LARGO -- Commissioner Charlie Harper announced today his candidacy for re-election in March's election for his second term.
A native of Largo, Harper is an executive with Progess Energy and has been active in the city with the Chamber of Commerce and Largo Historical Society.
Harper cited "solid business and residential growth" in the city over the past three years of his term.
"The next three years will be very challenging," Harper said in his announcement statement. He said that his interests would focus on new park development in east Largo, completing the police computer system and continue exercising fiscal responsibility.
A top priority, Harper said, would be a center for seniors.
He and his wife, Sandy, have three grown sons and a daughter.
