"Gala" New Year's Eve to benefit art center

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH -- A gala, called "Puttin' on The Ritz," will be held New Year's Eve at the newly renovated Beach Art Center for the benefit of the center.

Sponsorships are available. The $250 sponsorship includes a quarter page in the dinner journal and two dinner tickets. The $500 sponsorship is a half page ad, six gala tickets and a one year membership to the Beach Art Center. The $1,000 sponsorhip includes a one year membership to the Beach Arts Center, dinner seating for 10 and a full page ad. Finally, the $1,200 sponsorship includes dinner for l0, a lifetime membership in the center and a full page ad in the dinner journal.

The center is located at l5l5 Bay Palm Blvd. Tickets for the gala can be purchased by calling at 596-433l or 596-5505.

Individual tickets for the gala dinner are $100. There will be a silent auction and a big screen TV to watch the ball come down in Times Square, New York, bringing in the new year.

Music will be provided by Tampa's Uptown Review. The event starts at 7 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres with dinner at 8.

The money raised at the gala will go to the Beach Art Center.

The center is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday and Saturday. There are two galleries, the King and Gray. 12. The Center contains The King and Gray Gallery.

Also available at the center is art instruction -- drawing and sketching, oil and acrylic, pottery, oriental brush painting, and children's course.

The Beach Art Center began in l978 and was founded by George King who directed the center until he got sick in 1988 and his wife took over until 1997 when she retired.

Elizabeth Schoepf has been the executive director since then.
