CLEARWATER - A third hearing regarding a proposed condominium development on Island Estates' Skiff Point is scheduled for the Community Development Board's June 21 meeting.
The first hearing on April 19th resulted in a continuance, giving the developer an opportunity to discuss the project with its opponents. The second hearing on May 17th resulted in a 3-3 tie, the board casting an even number of votes because of member absences.
Owners of neighboring properties and the Island estates Civic Association have opposed the project, claiming that the building's 71-foot height is incompatible with the character of properties in the immediate vicinity, and that the 24 parking spaces proposed for the 15-unit condominium are inadequate and will worsen Skiff Point's already difficult on-street parking situation.
The CDB will meet at 1PM on Tuesday June 21 in City Council Chambers, 112 South Osceola Street, 3rd Floor. Members of the public are invited to speak.
