The third annual "Martinis and Matisse … an Art Lottery" event to benefit the Clearwater Free Clinic will be held on Saturday, January 21, at the Clearwater Main Public Library located in downtown Clearwater.
Honorary chairs for the fundraiser will be Dan and Roz Doyle of Belleair. This year's event will boast over 100 artists who have donated works in various media to be awarded in a unique "lottery-style." Patrons who buy tickets to "Martinis and Matisse" are given 10 "lottery" tickets that can be deposited in giant martini glasses in front of pieces of art that appeal to them. Additional tickets are available at the event, and naturally the more tickets one places in the designated martini glasses, the better the chance to take home the prized art work after one ticket is drawn from each glass at 9:15 p.m.
Martinis and Matisse is about much more than art - patrons will sample various kinds of martinis and a bountiful buffet from restaurants that will include Bonefish Grill, Island Way Grill, Salt Rock Grill, Guppies on the Beach, E&E Stakeout, Grillmarks, Outback Steakhouse, and Hogfish Grill.
Most special about the evening is where the funds raised are given - to continue the funding of the Clearwater Free Clinic's Family Practice Nurse Practitioner Program. The Clinic, a non-profit, non-government medical facility, provides problem-oriented medical care to the low-income and uninsured residents of upper Pinellas County.
Jeannie Shapiro, Executive Director of the Clearwater Free Clinic commented, "We feel very privileged to have so many very gifted and generous artists willing to donate and showcase their art to well over 350 community art enthusiasts, collectors, and clinic supporters. " Tickets are available by calling the Clearwater Free Clinic at (727) 447-3041.
