Ric Savid's Children Photographic Exhibition On Display

Largo - Children Ric Savid's back and white photographic exhibition is currently on display in Largo Public Library's Main Gallery through March 1. The exhibit features empathetic portraits of children from the United States, Italy, Ireland and the Philippines.

Savid states, "When I take a picture, I feel like "I'm photographing an emotion, one that I can feel inside." Savid strives to capture the expression of universal emotion in his subjects.

Savid earned a Masters in Journalism degree from Columbia University and worked for the St. Petersburg Times as a police reporter. He has also worked as a volunteer with the Peace Corps and has been exhibiting his photography for the past ten years. Savid has twice had images published in American Photo, in 1998 and 2004, and was the recipient of two Florida based art grants. The Tampa Museum of Art has acquired two of his prints as part of their permanent collection.

Largo Public Library is located at 120 Central Park Drive. Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m.- 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sunday 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. For additional information call the library at 587-6748.
