Maybe It's Me!

by Rick Cornelius

In my last few columns I have written about items that are affecting us all. We discussed real estate taxes, traffic conditions, homeowners insurance and the infamous bubble burst. All serious problems that concern us all. Then it all became very clear to me.

The City and State built a long delayed and over budget bridge that is really a parking lot and was supposed to take me from the non-existent downtown shopping Mecca to the fabulous beach and the white sand or to my beachfront home that has no insurance because, no matter how high the rates are no company will write the insurance policy and even if I could find a policy, I no longer can afford it because my real estate taxes are up 60% over last year. Besides that I can't afford to sell it because now I owe the IRS. What's wrong with this picture?

I think I need a vacation! Seriously, the sales market is starting to pick up and at the moment interest rates are holding steady. That said if you are selling your property make sure it is price correctly or you will not consummate a sale. There are over 600 properties on the market from Island Estates to Sand Key.

PS I really don't live on the beach!!
