Clearwater High School Recognizes Its Scholars

Clearwater - Clearwater High School held the 2006 edition of its annual Awards Program on Tuesday, May 9th. The event recognized the academic achievements of CHS students during the 2005/06 school year, and announced scholarships granted to graduating seniors.

The Chevron and Bars Award was presented to 257 students (65 freshmen, 73 sophomores, 57 juniors and 62 seniors) who achieved a 3.83 GPA or higher during the past school year. 7 freshmen, 7 sophomores, 3 juniors and 7 seniors made the Deans List for the 2005/06 school year, earning an A in every class in every grading period.

Scholarships valued at $2,365,000 were awarded to seniors. St. Petersburg College provided the majority of the scholarship awards, with 78 students offered the full-tuition Presidential Scholarship, and 61 students presented with the Johnnie Ruth Clarke Scholarship. 18 students earned the Pinellas County Education Foundation Doorways Scholarship, worth $10,000 each.

Brad Hamilton and Grant Jester were announced as co-Salutatorians, both having earned a 4.834 GPA during their four years of education at CHS. Sarah Stellich earned Valedictorian with a GPA of 4.861, the highest ever achieved by a CHS student. Aron Anderson earned the Crimson and Gray award, the most prestigious honor bestowed by CHS, recognizing the qualities of leadership, service and scholarship.
