New phone books will be appearing on your doorstep soon! What will you do with your old books? Pinellas County Utilities is encouraging all residents to recycle their old phone books instead of trashing them.
Pinellas County Utilities has partnered with local cities and SP Recycling Corporation on a Phone Book Recycling Campaign, which includes curbside and drop off options. Residents with curbside collection in Belleair, Clearwater, Dunedin, Largo, Olsdmar, and Redington Beach can put phone books in their curbside recycling bin. Other residents can go to one of the 33 convenient drop-off locations around the County The drop off sites have bins labeled "phone books," or if not, residents should put phone books in the "mixed paper" or "magazines" bins (not in the "newspaper" bin).
Pinellas residents discard over 2 million phone books annually to make room for the new ones. Phone books can be recycled into new paper products such as newsprint. Recycling conserves valuable landfill space, saves natural resources, and reduces pollution.
A complete list of phone book recycling sites is available by contacting Pinellas County Utilities at (727) 464-7500.
