Upper Pinellas African Violet Society To Host Annual Sale of Plants And Supplies

On Friday, June 16 and Saturday, June 17, the Upper Pinellas African Violet Society will host its annual sale of plants and supplies. This society has one of the largest selections of "African violet-related supplies in Florida.

From 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on both days, the sale will offer many varieties of flowering African violets, starter plants and leaves. Also a selection of other gesneriads will be available. Along with the African violet, the gloxinia, lipstick plant and Cape Primrose are examples of these plant types.

Society members will answer questions and offer helpful advice on growing violets and other gesneriads. For other growing questions, horticulturists of the Pinellas County Extension will be on hand.

Admission and parking are free. The Pinellas County Extension is located at 12520 Ulmerton Road in Largo next to the unique and all natural Florida Botanical Gardens. Both of these treasures are part of the 192 acres of nature, art and history known as the Pinewood Cultural Park.
