Clearwater Launches Stormwater Education Campaign

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 60 percent of the pollution entering the water surrounding Clearwater comes from neighborhoods. Pollutants like grass clippings, fertilizer, animal waste and car fluids enter the environment through Clearwater's Stormwater System. Citizens can help keep Clearwater beautiful by keeping storm drains free of debris and cleaning up any spills rather than washing them down the storm drains.

Learn how to dispose of dangerous materials by visiting Pinellas Country's "Get Rid Of It" website at www.pinellascounty.org/utilities/getridofit.

Report improper disposal of dangerous materials into Clearwater's Stormwater System by calling 562-4950. You can learn more about stormwater maintenance by visiting the stormwater maintenance website at www.myclearwater.com or by picking up a stormwater operations guide at any city facility.
