Construction continues on Phase I of Beach Walk. Fifth Street remains closed to traffic between Hamden and Coronado Drive. Third Street is paved and remains open. Two lanes of traffic remain open on Coronado Drive, and the speed limit is 20 miles per hour. Please be especially careful in the construction zone, where speeding fines are doubled
Three storm structures have been completed on Coronado Drive: two are at Fifth Street and one is at Third Street. Storm and water lines are going in on Coronado Drive at Third Street. Sanitary sewer pipe is also being installed on Coronado Drive, south from Third Street. Landscaping is being removed from the small non-asphalt areas along the east right of way on Coronado Drive to accept asphalt in preparation for placing traffic against the east right of way. Traffic will be placed along the Coronado Drive east right of way between Devon and Third Street within the next week, barring unforeseen problems that may be encountered. This work is all part of Sequence I.
To help alleviate parking concerns, the city has a new, metered public parking lot at the intersection of Hamden and Devon.
