
The Florida Orchestra 2006-2007 season opens with a special performance by Van Cliburn. The season includes both a Tchaikovsky and Bach Festival and features the return of such favorites as Anne Akiko Myers, Pascal Roge and Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg.
Complementing the Masterworks, the 06/07 Super Pops Series has something for everyone, including classic film, music, jazz, Broadway, classic rock and more.
There will be five free Park Concerts on the roster for the month of October.
Music Director Sefan Sanderling is joined by three great pianists as he opens the 06-07 season with Van Cliburn "Van Cliburn Plays Tchaikovsky" (Sept. 25) followed by Ivan Moravec (Opening Night, Oct. 7 and 8) and ending with William Wolfram (Mozart, Stravinsky and Dvorak, (Oct. 26-27).
Pops Principal Conductor Richard Kaufman starts off the series with A Night on the Red Carpet (Sept. 28-30). The Florida Orchestra and associate Conductor Susan Haig offer five Free Park Concerts (Clearwater-Oct. 12, Tampa-Oct. 13, 17, 22 and St. Petersburg - Oct. 14). The Coffee Concert series starts with Dazzling Dances and More (Oct. 12) in St. Petersburg.
