Fire Prevention Week Expo 2006

CLEARWATER - Each year, thousands of people die or are injured from fires. Last year more than 3,700 people died and almost 18,000 people were injured in the United States. The numbers have declined over the years, in part because of education.

Fire Prevention Week 2006 runs October 8-14. This year the National Fire Protection Association is focusing on preventing cooking fires, since more fires start in the kitchen. The goal is to teach families and children how to stop cooking fires from starting.

Join Clearwater Fire & Rescue for special operations demonstrations and a hands-on experience with fire engines and rescue units at Westfield Shopping Town, Countryside, Saturday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be clowns and balloons for the children.
