LARGO - Maurice O'Sullivan, Kenneth Curry Professor of English at Rollins College, will present Founders and Fighters, Frauds and Foreigners: Florida in Fiction on Thursday evening, October 19, at 7 p.m., in Room B of the John and Rosalie Jenkins Community Wing of the Largo Public Library.
Like so many aspects of the Sunshine State, our fiction shows our similarities and differences, our dreams and failures, and our fascination with both the past and future. The men and women who created this remarkably diverse tradition include a surprising collection of rogues and adventurers, science fiction icons and award-winning mystery writers. O'Sullivan examines a colorful group of writers that have explored every facet of America's southernmost state.
Maurice O'Sullivan has written extensively on literature, Florida, popular culture, Shakespeare, religion, education and current events, and has edited and co-edited numerous books. He offers workshops and teacher institutes for many organizations and also lectures widely on topics ranging from Shakespeare, British Art, Florida Studies, mystery novels and film.
