Clearwater Public Art & Design Program Special Event

CLEARWATER, Fla.- The City of Clearwater Public Art & Design Program will hold its first special event on the evening of December 4, 2006 at 4 p.m. The event will take place at the Municipal Services Building, located at 100 South Myrtle Avenue and will feature an introduction to the Public Art & Design Program by Margo Walbolt, Cultural Affairs Manager, and Christopher Hubbard, Public Art Specialist.

The highlight of the event will be an artist talk by German-born, turned Clearwater resident, Ulli Kampelmann. Ulli's brilliantly colored glass artwork is currently on display in the Municipal Services Building lobby through a generous loan agreement with the City. Kampelmann, whose techniques in architectural glass art are still relatively unknown in the United States, will speak about the transformative potential of public art when included in the design phase of architectural projects.

This special event is sponsored by the Clearwater Parks and Recreation Department and will kick off a series of public art oriented events throughout the City. For more information, please call (727) 562-4837.
