Pinellas County Television Receives Emmy Nomination

Pinellas 18, Pinellas County's government television station was nominated for a 2006 Suncoast Regional Emmy Award.

The county-run television station is one out of two government channels in the region to receive a nomination and is one of only a few nominated nationwide.

Pinellas 18 was selected in the category of Special Even Coverage Other Than News or Sports for a locally originated program, "Pinellas Folk Festival." The two-part series was shot entirely on location at Heritage Village, the county's living history park, and features local musicians and songwriters.

The program was produced by Libby Bolling; directed and edited by Dan Eggleston; and hosted by Kay Norred and WQYK's Hank Shaw. The two-part series features local artists, including Frank Thomas, Mike Jurgensen and Jak Kelly, a songwriter for the Kingston Trio.

The Emmy Awards were presented Saturday, December 2, at the Eden Rock Hotel on Miami Beach.
