A free college education is available through the Navy Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Scholarship Program. Qualified individuals compete for four-year college scholarships valued at $180,000 at top universities around the country and go on to lead in diverse careers such as Aviation, Submarine, Surface Ship, Medical, and Navy SEALS.
Applications can be submitted at www.nrotc.navy.com or by contacting a NROTC Recruiter at (954) 845-0101 ext. 125 or 131. While there are competitive academic and physical fitness requirements, there is no commitment incurred just for applying. The NROTC scholarship pays all tuition, book fees, and lab fees and provides a monthly stipend. Approximately 50 percent of the universities will also include room and board.
Last year 58 Percent, or 85 qualified applicants were selected from the Miami District including South Florida and the Caribbean. This year over 162 four-year NROTC scholarships are available. Online applications for the Fall 2007 school year will be accepted until January 30, 2007. However, qualified tests must be taken by December 31, 2006.
