Sorting clothing on a recent day at the Religious Community Services Thrift Store at 2960 East Bay Drive in Largo are (from left) Thrift Store staffer Elaine Couto, volunteer Susanne MacNamee, Thrift Store director Linda Sofarelli, volunteer Lori Tapp and Thrift Store staffer Kathy McKinney. Sofarelli advised earlier this week that the store is in need of volunteers, especially men who can help unload heavier donations at this time of year. Volunteers are also needed to sort donations, mend clothing, wash and iron clothing, display items, help customers and help RCS clients pick out items. Persons interested in donating their time at the facility should call Sofarelli at 531-6266. Donations of household items, pots and pans, dishes and furniture, especially twin beds, would be greatly appreciated at this time. Pickup service for furniture is available. Sofarelli asks that persons planning to donate Christmas items please do so by December 20. The store features a Christmas section, where you will find holiday clothing, decorations, knick-knacks and more. Ninety-two percent of the proceeds from sales at the store directly impacts RCS programs, including the Food Bank, Grace House emergency housing, The Haven domestic violence shelter and Stepping Stone transitional housing.
