Clearwater Names and Dedicates Trail

CLEARWATER - The Ream Wilson Clearwater Trail, formerly known as Clearwater's East-West Trail, was dedicated on December 11, at Del Oro Park, 401 McMullen Booth Rd., Clearwater.

The trail was made possible due to the visionary leadership of Ream Wilson, Director of Parks and Recreation from June 1978 to March 1999. During his 32-year career with the City, he acquired and developed the various parcels of land where the trail passes through.

The National Recreation Trail will eventually connect Tampa Bay to the Gulf of Mexico passing through many different parks and totaling over 10 miles in distance. Presently the trail is open for four miles from the Long Center to Safety Harbor, for non-motorized use. For more information, please contact (727) 562-4852.
