In a follow-up to last week's column, I think my next idea for relief has finally come of age. What you ask, is my brilliant idea? CASINO GAMBLING! Now don't everyone go crazy on me. This idea really makes sense. If it is set up statewide in an orderly fashion, it will be a godsend to the economy of this state.
It will help reduce real estate taxes and boost our declining tourism. It would help put new life into our local airport, that we as taxpayers subsidized to the tune of $25,000,000 this year. Gambling would increase our weekend tourism which means hotels and restaurants prosper. I believe the good that can be achieved will outweigh any negatives. It beats the heck out of a 14 percent sales tax.
Next week I will put forth my idea to see what you think.
