Beach Walk Construction Update

provided by the City of Clearwater

Traffic is flowing on the west side of Coronado Drive, and most of the work has shifted to the east side. Drivers should remember that it is a construction zone and the speed limit is 20 miles per hour. There is no parking on the east side of Coronado Drive. Progress Energy will be installing decorative street lighting on the east side of Coronado Drive as they did on the west side.

Westra Construction, the Phase I contractor, has accelerated the schedule to make sure all curbing and asphalt on Coronado Drive will be in by March 1. There are eight contractor crews, four subcontractor crews and utility crews working simultaneously on Coronado Drive. The road base and the curb on the east side are nearly complete from Hamden to Brightwater.

The next Hard Hat Meeting is Tuesday, March 6, 9:15 a.m. at Shephard's Resort on South Gulfview Boulevard. The Beach Walk Celebration is Wednesday, Feb. 28, 9 a.m. at Pier 60 Park. Coronado Drive will be substantially complete by that date, and Nelson Construction Company of Palm Harbor, will be ready to begin work on the remaining phases of the project.

The options presented for the MOT (maintenance of traffic) for Phase II of the project are under review and have not been finalized yet.

New aerial photos taken in December and January have been posted on the web site. Visit www.myclearwater.com/beachwalk for more information and to see the photos.
