The Way I See It

By cj pollick

The Clearwater City Council Race - The Gazette recommends a vote for Paul Gibson for Council Seat 3.

Pinellas Suncoast Fire District Seeks Tax Increase - It's simple, vote no.

Belleair Beach Police Officer Investigation - Sheriff Jim Coats confirmed that a Belleair Beach police officer is under investigation by the Administrative Investigations Division of the Sheriff's office. The Sheriff's office was asked by the city manager to assist with an internal investigation of the police officer. Neither Belleair Beach nor Sheriff Coats could confirm the reason for the investigation.

Some Local Pastors Ask City To Lead - The message was somewhat biblical, "Help to feed the poor, help the hopeless, etc.;" however, instead of being stated from the pulpit, it came from several Clearwater pastors seeking City of Clearwater taxpayer funds for low income housing, etc. There are dozens upon dozens of charitable organizations that allegedly help those people in need. Many of us donate money to these charities.

City taxpayer funds? Quite frankly, this is the job of those charities.

Vice President Cheney Targeted By Terrorists - When Vice President Cheney recently visited the Middle East he was targeted by terrorists. A bomb exploded near the Vice President killing many innocent people; however, leaving the Vice President unhurt.

Cheney, an outspoken critic of anti-American terrorists, is clearly a target of people wishing to have him silenced, permanently silenced.

What did one liberal commentator on television say about the recent bombing attack? "I don't believe it." Can you imagine the audacity of a media person who is so biased against Vice President Cheney that he can't accept Associated Press news about the attack. Amazing.

What if the Vice President was killed? Perhaps the liberal television commentator would think it was not newsworthy-- just another damn Republican in the wrong place.

The way I see it, some folks are beginning to forget 9/11-- thinking such a terrorist attack could not happen again on American soil.

Orlando Pharmacy Raided - A pharmacy in Orlando, Florida, was raided by federal officials as a result of shipping steroids to professional athletes. Over $30 million in growth stimulants was sold in New York last year by this Florida pharmacy.

How many professional athletes participated in the purchase of these steroids is not known at this time.

Since it is a criminal investigation, names of possible buyers have been kept a secret. However, some names have been leaked to the media and the list of names will be made public in the upcoming months. This could be a huge breakthrough for NFL officials who have wondered what athletes have been buying steroids. People involved in the Orlando steroid scandal include some Florida doctors, pharmacists and office staff members.

Barry Bonds? He refuses to cooperate with authorities seeking information about his alleged use of steroids.

Save $286 Per Month - If you are 25-years-old, and not many of our readers are 25-years-old, and begin saving $286 per month, you would have a million dollars at age 65 if you earned 8 per cent on your money, explained a writer in Kiplinger Magazine.

Have Our Schools Gone Too far? - Imagine your youngster making a statement like, "That's so gay!" in a school playground and being disciplined by school officials. As we know, it is likely that just about anything might pop out of the mouth of a teenager on a school playground. Can you imagine some of the outrageous things many of us once said in anger on a school playground?

Heck, many of us learned a vocabulary we possibly would not have learned except on a school playground. Slang expressions for various ethnic groups in the 50's and 60's? Please.

Back to the Santa Rosa, California school.

The school officials reprimanded the young student and placed a written reprimand as a part of her official school file. In other words, the school officials made this to be a part of her permanent student transcript. If this form of discipline is used, then it makes you wonder how many other students should be reprimanded due to name-calling.

Here is the worst part, the student's parents had to hire a lawyer to fight the matter. Yes, this crazy thing will cost the parents money plus the school system (taxpayers) would need to hire a lawyer. Folks, this is just another form of liberalism we must never allow to spread.

Name-calling in a school yard?

Name-calling happens every day. Whether we like the names or slang expressions used by youngsters after school is another matter. Most youngsters learn more appropriate words as they mature. (not all, most.)

Some of us older folks remember when "gay" meant "cheerful" or "happy."

Perhaps this issue is just more of Speaker Nancy Pelosi's "California's way" of reprimanding young school children and spreading liberalism. I wonder what they might have done if the youngster had called someone a . . . "Limey."

Thank goodness most of us are to the right of California politics and to the south of Hillary Clinton's liberal politics in New York.
