Diane Mitchell, stranding coordinator and director of animal care at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium on Island Estates, holds Billy, a four-month-old baby otter which was found on the grounds of the Belleview Biltmore Resort & Spa recently. A groundskeeper called the rescue and rehabilitation facility after discovering the lethargic and dehydrated animal in one of the resort's chlorinated pools. Mitchell advised Billy, who weighed two pounds when captured, was given formula every three hours around the clock. She was happy to report last week that the aquatic, furbearing mammal had gained four pounds since his arrival and is now eating fish.
