OLDSMAR - Tampa Bay Skating Academy (TBSA) currently has eight High School Ice Hockey organizations that call TBSA their home. They are Countryside, East Lake, Tarpon/Dunedin, Gaither/Sickles, River Ridge, Tampa/Pinellas, Springstead and Palm Harbor High School. The high school hockey season runs from September - February with all games held on Friday evenings at TBSA.
The Eastlake Eagles High School Ice Hockey Team successfully defended their State Title the weekend of March 23, 2007 in South Florida. The Eagles swept all five Tournament Games to become the First Pure High School Team in the State of Florida to Win Back to Back State Championships. This was the third straight year that Eastlake played in the High School Ice Hockey State Championship Game. The final score: Eastlake 3 and North Broward 1.
The combined High School Ice Hockey Team with players from Gaither and Sickles won the State Title for the combined team division the weekend of March 25, 2007, at the St. Pete Times Forum. With seven teams in the tournament, Gaither/Sickles had three shutouts and one tie to advance to the championship game where they beat Springstead 2-0. The Gaither/Sickles combined team has won the State title two years in a row and is managed by Ron Samson.
