Clearwater had another Bank Robbery Wednesday morning (May 2nd) with the call coming in at 9:35 a.m. This was not the same person that has recently hit four other Clearwater banks and one Largo bank.
The robbery took place at Wachovia Bank located at 130 Island Way, Island Estates
The robber entered the bank, handed the teller a note demanding cash and implied he had a weapon, though no weapon was observed. The teller complied and the suspect ran out of the bank.
The suspect is described as follows: White male, 25-30 years old, 6'1"-6'2" in height, thin build, dark hair and a pock marked complexion. He was wearing sunglasses, black baseball cap, red Windbreaker jacket, white shirt and black jeans.
Police set perimeters, set-up a traffic checkpoint at Memorial Causeway and Island Way, utilized K9 units and the PCSO helicopter attempting to locate the suspect. No suspect had been found when the paper went to press.
