Spring Pet Fair Caters to Animal Lovers

CLEARWATER - A May 5 Spring Pet Fair is expected to draw the community's competitive pets, owners and animal lovers to the City Hall parking lot, 112 S. Osceola Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bring your favorite four-legged friend or you can find one through pet adoption agencies who will be on hand at the event. A pet training demonstration will provide tips to help Fido mind his manners, and participating pet shops and supply vendors will display the latest pet goods and gadgets. Competitive pets and their owners can vie for prizes in the Doggy Fashion Show, Pet/Owner Look-alike Contest, and Puppy Races. Entertainment and refreshments will be available and admission is free.

Sponsored by the Downtown Development Board and Clearwater Main Street, the Spring Pet Fair is an annual promotional event to showcase downtown businesses and stimulate commerce in Clearwater's downtown core.

"Last year's event was such a success and this year we are one of the events in the Fun 'n Sun Festival," said Anne Fogarty, Main Street Program Coordinator. "We also hope that residents and visitors see the completed block of Cleveland Street and visit our downtown restaurants and merchants."

Parking is available at City Hall, with additional parking at Coachman Park, the Harborview Center and the Garden Avenue Garage. Further details of the event and a parking map are available on the City of Clearwater website at www.myclearwater.com/mainstreet.

Anyone wishing to enter a pet in one or more of the competitions can log on to www.myclearwater.com/mainstreet or, for further information, contact Anne Fogarty in the Clearwater Economic Development and Housing Department at 562-4044.
