TAMPA - The Virginia Tech Alumni Association, Tampa Bay Chapter, is selling rubber orange and maroon wristbands imprinted with "We will prevail. 4.16.07" to provide a means for the general public and local Virginia Tech alumni to show their support in the wake of the tragic events of April 16, 2007.
The Chapter is donating all of the proceeds from the sale of the wristbands to the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, created to assist the families of victims as well as others who were injured, and appropriately memorialize the students and faculty who lost their lives on April 16th.
"In addition to our upcoming Hokie Open golf tournament n June 1st, this is another way that the Tampa Bay community can join us to show support," said Phil Winters, president of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association of Tampa Bay.
The wristbands can be ordered by mail by sending a check or money order payable to "Virginia Tech Alumni Association of Tampa Bay" for $3 per wristband (includes postage and handling) to Phil Winters, President, Virginia Tech Alumni Association of Tampa Bay, 5079 Southampton Circle, Tampa, Florida 33647-2031.
