County Reminds Residents to Protect Home During Hurricane Season

Offering Help Through Home Repair Loans

Clearwater, Fla.-Through its Home Repair Loan Program, Pinellas County continues to offer zero (0 %) to five (5%) percent low interest loans up to $45,000 to help county residents make their homes hurricane ready for the 2007 season. Improvements can include roof bracing or replacement, impact resistant windows and doors, and storm shutters. The home must be the applicant's primary residence and located within Pinellas County, excluding the cities of Belleair Shore, Clearwater, Largo and St. Petersburg. Residents of these communities are urged to contact their city government directly to inquire about similar programs.

For assistance under the Home Repair Loan Program, household income must be less than 120 percent of Area Median Income (AMI). Also, to be eligible the just value of a person or family's single-family detached home, townhouse, villa, cooperative or condominium cannot exceed $151,000.
