Debutante Day, May 26, ushered in Clearwater's 2007 Debutante Season. This year's debs gathered at the Belleair Country Club to hear presentations by Margaret Word Burnside from Tampa Bay Magazine, who spoke on the topic of cultural awareness, and Martha Skelton of Community Pride Child Care who discussed the community's contributions and responsibilities.
Evening activities found the debs and their parents along with the Debutante Committee, Marshals and Marshal's parents at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Prior for a pool side and lawn dinner party.
According to Drea Layman, "This Season has thirteen Debs and will end with their formal presentation to society at the Debutante Courtier Ball in December. Throughout the season, there will be many social parties given in the Debs' honor. With the evolution of the modern Debutante, the Debs' awareness of and contribution to their philanthropy will be evidenced by volunteering collectively at the Community Pride Child Care Center."
