(from left) U.S. Army/Air Force veteran Robert Heberling, Beverly Richter, Addi Barnett and Sharon Blackiston stop to look at the U.S. flag on display at The Charlie Hellwig Veterans Club Flag Day Celebration at The Palms of Largo on June 14. The flag, which was provided courtesy of World War II Navy veteran Clark Sullivan, flew on the submarine Hake from 1944 to 1945. The flag was never off the bow mast whether above or below the surface, he said.

Veterans, their spouses, family members and guests await the beginning of the outdoor ceremony held in conjunction with the Flag Day Celebration hosted by The Charlie Hellwig Veterans Club at The Palms of Largo on June 14. Following recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance and singing of "America the Beautiful", the group moved indoors for refreshments and a program presented by Dr. Bob Simons.
