Civil Air Patrol, the volunteer auxiliary of the United States Air Force, provides a youth program to help Clearwater youths develop their full potential. These cadets showed support for the Airpark by serving free hot dogs and drinks at the Open House: (from left) Robert Luth, Ronald Montgomery, Rio Montgomery, Blake Setser, Stephanie Setser Clearwater Airpark, 1000 N. Hercules Ave. hosted an Open House Saturday. The festivities featured reduced rate airplane and helicopter rides, free hot dogs and drinks, military and vintage aircraft, a police K-9 demonstration, face painting and other activities for kids. A high point late in the day came when the United States Coast Guard Jayhawk Helicopter, used for rescue missions and a familiar sight in the Clearwater and beach communities, thrilled on-lookers with their take-off; then minutes later flew back to buzz their fans.
