Cleveland Street Streetscape Updateprovided by the City of Clearwater
The finished look of the third block of the Cleveland Street Streetscape project is beginning to emerge as Gibbs & Register crews continue working east. With the first layer of asphalt down on the roadway, crews have completed most of the curb work on both sides of the street and the median. Base for the pavers on the northern sidewalks has been installed and crews have begun the installation of the pavers on that side of the street. Cleveland Street is open to traffic except in the Garden Avenue to East Avenue block where streetscape work is being done. While sidewalks on the south side have been narrowed to begin preparations for the coming work on the pavers, pedestrians still have a walkway outside the construction fence in that block. The north sidewalk, that is currently under construction, remains closed. All other sidewalks are open at this time as are all north and southbound intersections. Motorists are again reminded to observe the new traffic rules that are now in effect throughout the completed portions of the project. They include no right turn at Fort Harrison Avenue and Cleveland Street for eastbound travelers, no u-turn at Cleveland Street and Osceola Avenue for westbound travelers and no trucks on Cleveland Street through the downtown area. Patrons may take advantage of two hours of free parking in the Garden Avenue Garage, additional parking along Osceola Avenue between the Main Library and Cleveland Street, and designated parking spaces on Cleveland Street from Osceola to Ft.
