Gina McPherson Brings Teaching Experience To Chapel-By-The-SeaBy Anne McKay Garris
"I've loved Clearwater Beach ever since I first visited here in 2001", said Gina McPherson, as she discussed her new position as Director of Education and Programming at the Chapel-By-The-Sea. She and her family had visited the Clearwater Beach church and liked its friendly atmosphere. When she heard that Lorraine Freitag was retiring from her position as Director of Education and the church was looking for a replacement, Gina applied. "I taught grammar school for 31 years in Dayton, Ohio," she said, "and third grade for one year at the Cornerstone Church in Dunedin. I felt I needed a growing experience, one with a more flexible schedule." Although Gina has some ideas for additions to the Chapel-By-The-Sea programs and education, she is currently waiting and watching, "to see what is working and where I can help," she says. Already she has begun signing up speakers for the next session of the popular Non-trivial Pursuit series. Gina lives on Island Estates with her husband, Robert Beeson, who retired from Delphi Corp. in Dayton. His retirement occupation is photography. Gina has one son, Daniel, who works with the American Red Cross in Washington, D.C. Gina, whose passion is physical fitness, also works part time at Eagle Fitness, upstairs at the Pelican Walk on Mandalay Avenue.
