Morton Plant Hospital Volunteers Host Cancer Survivors Camp

CLEARWATER - Cancer survivors describe it as an oasis of peace and tranquility - a place that gives new meaning to life and hope for the future. For the ninth year, Morton Plant Caring Partners, a volunteer organization for Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, is hosting Camp Living Springs. The three-day camp for cancer survivors 18 years or older will be held in Ellenton, Florida - Friday, November 30 through Sunday, December 2. Applications to participate in the camp are now being accepted until Sunday, September 30.

"All transportation, food and accommodations at Camp Living Springs are provided free of charge," said Jack Bower, president of Morton Plant Caring Partners. "This is an opportunity for cancer survivors to relax, have fun, and enjoy the warmth of campfires and friendship."

In years past, campers have come from all over the Tampa Bay area and beyond to take part in Camp Living Springs. Activities at the 100-acre, DaySpring Conference Center and retreat include canoeing, yoga, crafts, music and dancing. In addition, there will be a moving tribute to campers who have lost their fight with cancer. A wreath will be created in remembrance of former campers. Poignant stories of survival also will be shared.

Camp Living Springs is staffed by volunteers and is fully funded by Morton Plant Caring Partners. To request an application to attend camp or for more information about Camp Living Springs, please call Morton Plant Caring Partners at (727) 461-8010.
