LARGO - The Largo Woman's Club, which is now in its 92nd year, promotes charitable, educational and civic endeavors in the community. To raise funds for the various charities it supports, the club holds two major fundraisers each year--a card party luncheon in October and a fashion show luncheon in March. All interested women are invited to join them for these special events. The first is the Halloween Luncheon and Card Party coming up at 11:30 a.m. on October 16 at Royal Palms, 200 Lake Avenue. Tables of four are available. Those attending are encouraged to come in costume or wear a mask. However, both are optional. Prizes will be awarded for funniest, most original and prettiest costume. There will also be table and door prizes. Area businesses, including APSCO Appliances and The Cottage Inn, have donated gifts for the opportunity drawing. Marlene Rowe, third vice president, is head hostess for the event, which costs $12 to attend. For reservations, you may call 585-2852 or 688-4885.

The club's first general meeting of the year took place on October 2 at the Highland Recreation Complex. Deborah Clark, supervisor of elections, was scheduled to be guest speaker. Faye Wyatt was head hostess for the luncheon. Assisting her were Joy Sturgis, Emily Girard, Ellen Dierks and Edith Ford.

Due to the Halloween luncheon, there will not be a regular meeting in October. The meeting on November 13 will feature a performance by the Grandmother Rockettes dance troupe. The group's Christmas Party is planned on December 4. A program on "Closet Organizing" is on the agenda for January 8 and a small card party for members and guests has been scheduled on January 15. The "Caregiving Youth Project" will be the subject of Dr. Bob Jackson's talk at the February get-together and "Show Stoppers" is the title of the March program. Also in March is the club's second major fundraiser, a luncheon and fashion show which will be presented by Bon Worth. April highlights will include election of officers and a membership/orientation tea. Installaltion of officers will follow in May. New members are always welcome. Persons interested in joining the group may call either of the above listed numbers for more information.
