Cleveland Street Streetscape Update
provided by the City of Clearwater
All curbing on the final block of the Cleveland Street Streetscape project is complete and the first layer of asphalt from Myrtle to East avenue has been placed. Crews are relocating water services and adjusting valve boxes before installation of the new sidewalks begins. Concrete drive entrances to businesses along the block are also being poured this week. Footers for distinctive pillars that will mark the east entrance to the Cleveland Street District are also being installed. Crews will have temporary travel lanes in this block open for Jazz Holiday weekend to accommodate increased traffic, intermittent closures may occur following the event.
Further to the west, crews have installed new asphalt to smooth north and southbound Ft. Harrison Avenue approaches to Cleveland Street. A similar treatment is planned for the southbound approach on Osceola Avenue in the coming weeks.
The entire project is expected to be complete in December and a grand opening celebration will be announced soon.
Patrons can take advantage of two hours of free parking in the Garden Avenue Garage, additional parking along Osceola Avenue between the Main Library and Cleveland Street, and designated parking spaces on Cleveland Street from Osceola to Ft. Harrison avenues.
The next Hard Hat meeting is 8 a.m., Oct. 25 at Cleveland Street Café, 615 Cleveland St. City and construction officials will be on hand to answer the public's questions regarding the project.
