To the Commissioners of Largo and Largonians

from Bea Morgan

It seems as though we have another "fiasco" brewing in Largo, not unlike the Military Court of Honor. I remember how we had to spend "extra money" to renovate the Court replacing the bricks that residents had paid for in honor of a loved one. I was one of them.

Now we find we "MUST" spend more of the taxpayers' money to renovate the Clock Tower and the Fountain even though it is only twelve-years-old. The $300,000 pinpointed for this project, in my humble opinion, could be better used to help pave the streets in the Largo area that is in dire need of restoration.

It has been said that the Library needed to be closed on Sundays because more money was needed to keep it open. How about school teachers who use their own money to help buy school supplies for their students, etc. For the life of me I can not understand what these Commissioners are thinking.

Now we have a NEW candidate, who has "thrown his hat "into the ring to take a commission seat in November election. Readers, whom do you think is the most qualified person to fill the empty Commission seat, Curtis Holmes or Dr. Brown? Which one of them has had the most experience concerning the Largo? Who has been the one to attend the Commission meetings, and knows the city and its issues and problems?

We are in dire need of some one like Curtis Holmes who will bring new insight, fresh ideas, and not bring with him a load of political baggage. He is his own man, from what I have observed, and has no other agenda but to help Largo be the city it should be.
