Commission Creates Blue Ribbon Advisory Board
The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved the formation of a Blue Ribbon Advisory Board to make recommendations regarding the organization and management of real estate practices for the county.
Chairman Ronnie Duncan proposed the creation of the advisory board at the Board of County Commission meeting Tuesday, Nov. 6.
The members are Dr. Carl Kuttler, Deveron Gibbons, Mark Mahaffey, Stephen Meyers and Andrew Hines.
The independent group has four specific purposes:
- To review the current process by which properties are purchased and sold;
- To receive recommendations from an outside consultant as to overall process changes for the purchase and sale of real estate for county purposes, including "best practices" processes and benchmark with similar public entities;
- To recommend a deliberate criteria by which proposed expedited processes of property purchases or sales may be implemented; and
- To make final recommendations regarding the most effective way to organize the real estate function, and to ensure the process is transparent and incorporates adequate checks and balances - guaranteeing that staff and public are knowledgeable about any and all transactions.
