
Gasparilla Festival of the Arts Seeks Emerging ArtistsParticipating Emerging Artists Eligible to Win $1,000 PrizeTAMPA, Fla. - The Raymond James Gasparilla Festival of the Arts is seeking emerging artists interested in participating in one of the top-rated outdoor fine art shows in the country, to be held in downtown Tampa March 1-2, 2008. The Gasparilla Festival of the Arts Emerging Artist Program recognizes and showcases the artwork of up-and-coming artists representing a diversity of styles and media who wish to establish themselves in a professional visual arts career. The emerging artists selected to display at the festival will participate at no cost and be provided with an individual display tent in addition to a $250 expense allowance. Although emerging artists do not compete against the other festival artists for prize money, their artwork will be juried by a festival juror and will be eligible to receive the $1,000 Emerging Artist Award. Qualified applicants to the Emerging Artist Program are those who have not previously exhibited their art in museums or major galleries or received a substantial portion of their income from the sale of their art.
