North Beach Docks, Sand Key Rezoning on CDB Agenda
CLEARWATER - On December 18th, Clearwater's Community Development Board (CDB) will hear two cases of special interest to Clearwater Beach and Sand Key residents. In case FLD2007-03007, Peter Pan Developments LLC will ask for Flexible Development approval to construct a 3,182 square foot multi-use dock facility to provide 14 slips as an amenity to a proposed 16 unit attached dwelling at 685, 689, 693 and 699 Bay Esplanade. Included in the request is an increase to the length of the southern dock from 75 percent of the lot width (93.75 feet) to 89 percent of the lot width (111 feet). Clearwater Beach residents and recreational boaters have expressed concern about the dock extending into an area of Mandalay Channel that is designated for recreational use. In case REZ2007-10001, a rezoning from Business to Tourist is being requested for 1201, 1241, and 1261 Gulf Boulevard on Sand Key. Sand Key residents have been concerned that the rezoning could become the first step of a process that could result in the loss of the Sand Key Shoppes, the only retail facility on the island. The CDB will meet in City Council Chambers at City Hall at 2 p.m, a departure from their normal 1 p.m. start time. |
