Belleair Single Senior Club Plans Initial Meeting

BELLEAIR-The new Belleair Single Senior Club will host its first monthly meeting Friday, January 4 from 7-9 p.m. at the Belleair Town Hall, 901 Ponce De Leon Boulevard.

"This first meeting is open to singles, widows and widowers and divorced men and women ages 50's-70's living in the greater Belleair area," said Mary Lou McCarthy, Director. "We are inviting those single seniors to come and meet and greet some new friends. As we were planning this new venture, many of the starter group thought that there are others in the area who need an outlet for fun and fellowship."

John Yevich, Director of Recreation, added, "Our mission is to serve our entire community and we are reaching out with a message to our senior citizens to get involved, do some good and have some fun."

The group is open to try new activities:

  • Potluck Get-Togethers
  • Dinner and Movie Nights, Game Nights
  • Visits to Cypress Gardens, Strawberry Festival, etc.
  • Spring Training Games
  • Community Volunteer activities
  • Day Trips, Hikes, Holiday Outings, etc.

Men are invited to bring a non-alcoholic beverage to the meeting and women are asked to bring an appetizer plate to share. The first meeting will feature a meet-and-greet hour and then an organizational planning session. Attendees are asked to bring ideas for fun activities and to make a small donation to the kitty.

All those interested in attending are asked to sign up in advance, by calling Mary Lou McCarthy at 581-6189.
