Kindergarten Philanthropist - This Five-Year Old Knows the True Meaning of Christmas

Holland Brown, a five-year old Safety Harbor girl, and her friends demonstrated the true meaning of Christmas through a wonderful act of kindness and generosity. Holland Brown hosted her very first Teddy Bear Tea Party with Mrs. Claus and asked her friends to bring gifts to help make some UPARC clients' holidays a lot brighter.

Holland and her family recently moved to the Tampa Bay area from the Boston area. "In Boston, we had attended a similar party hosted by the Ritz Carlton during the Christmas Season," said Holland's mother, Cathy Brown. "We tried to locate something similar here, but were unable to find such an event. So, we decided that Holland should host her own party.

Holland invited her friends to come to a tea party with Mrs. Claus. Each girl was asked to bring a new teddy bear wrapped in Christmas packaging so that the gifts could be given to UPARC clients for Christmas. The girls enjoyed hot cocoa, tea sandwiches and cookies. Mrs. Claus, who flew down from the North Pole, led the girls in songs and read them stories of Christmas.

"Holland and her mother delivered 20 wrapped bears to UPARC Foundation so that our clients would have presents under their trees on Christmas morning," said Karen Crown, UPARC Foundation Executive Director. "Holland told the Foundation staff all about the party and presented us with the very special gifts she collected from her friends. What a wonderful reminder of the spirit of giving! That is what the Holidays are all about."

Holland's mother added, "It was a magical and special day. Thanks to UPARC for allowing us to share our Christmas spirit and to bring joy to others."
