On January 29th, voters throughout Florida will have an opportunity to approve or reject Amendment 1, a property tax reform measure that would increase the homestead exemption by $25,000, provide portability of the Save Our Homes Cap, and provide a $25,000 exemption for business equipment.
The measure is projected to save the average homeowner about $240 annually in property taxes. The City of Clearwater has estimated that passage of Amendment 1 will result in a reduction in the city's tax revenues of $2.7-million.
