Club Collects Toys for Children in Iraq

The ladies wore red, white and blue to the Patriotic Luncheon hosted by the Largo Woman's Club at the Highland Recreation Complex. They arrived with armloads of stuffed animals, toys, coloring books, pencils, erasers, balls, games and more. Member Norma Steiner, at right above, and her daughter, Kathleen Pillai, are pictured with a tableful of the items collected that day. The gifts are bound for Iraq, where Pillai's son (Steiner's grandson), Army Captain Bryan Pillai, is stationed. Capt. Pillai had put in a request to family members for supplies he and his fellow servicemen could distribute to needy children in that country. When Steiner told club members about the effort, they wanted to help. Steiner said she was overwhelmed with the club's response.
