Beach Walk Construction Update
provided by the City of Clearwater
The new South Gulfview Boulevard will be open by the end of next week, well ahead of schedule. Workers from Nelson Construction will begin taking down the fences that surround the construction site early next week. After that is done, barricades will be removed and the road will open for traffic. The west side promenade is already open from Pier 60 to the southern limit of the project.
The City Council approved the proposal to lease the site of the former Adams Mark Hotel for 94 additional temporary parking spaces. City workers are preparing the new Salt Block parking lot with the hope that it will open for use on April 19, barring any unforeseen circumstance that may occur.
When South Gulfview Boulevard opens, work will resume on Coronado Drive. On-street parking, final asphalt and additional lighting will be completed. This final work on Coronado is expected to take 2 to 3 months.
The next Beach Walk Hard Hat Meeting will be 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 6 at Shephards Beach Resort, 619 Gulfview Blvd. All work on the $30 million Beach Walk project should be done in July, well ahead of schedule. Visit www.myclearwater.com/beachwalk for more information or call 562-4681.
