Beach Walk Construction Updateprovided by the City of ClearwaterThe new South Gulfview Boulevard is now open, with wide promenades along both sides of the road. Work on Coronado Drive resumed this week. On-street parking, final asphalt and lighting will be added and should take two to three months to complete. During construction, northbound traffic on Coronado will be reduced to one lane. There will still be two southbound lanes for traffic. Those exiting the Pier 60 parking lot are directed to head south on Gulfview Boulevard. The South Gulfview parking lot has been temporarily extended with an additional 94 temporary parking spaces on the former site of the Adams Mark Hotel. A new Beach Area Parking Map has been posted at the city website, www.myclearwater.com/beachwalk. Final touches that will be added include landscaping on each end of the frontage roads, thermoplastic striping on South Gulfview Boulevard, turtle decorations on the showers, striping of the permanent part of the South Gulfview parking lot and electrical work. The last Beach Walk Hard Hat Meeting will be 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, May 6 at Shephards Beach Resort, 619 Gulfview Blvd. All work on the $30-million Beach Walk project should be done in July, well ahead of schedule.
