Recs and Reads

By Anne McKay Garris

In January, some people make New Year's resolutions. Some even keep them. By May, we've mostly forgotten those January resolves, but the health and beauty conscious among us know it's time to make Summer's Coming resolutions. To help with those of us so motivated, the Clearwater Beach Family Aquatic Center is offering Aqua-Cise classes, starting on May 12. From May to August, you can replace those "sure to put on pounds" lunch dates with your friends with "Let's go Aqua-Cise" dates. Beginning May 12, the classes will be held from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The instructor-led Aqua-Cise classes work to build increasing endurance. You work in a group but at your own pace so the chatter and laughter are still a part of the activity. Guaranteed no sweating, no matter how the temperature soars. This surely beats exercising alone or in the hot sun. And if you sneak off to share a luscious desert afterwards, we won't tell. Besides you've probably exercised enough to be able to afford an extra calorie, or two.

Meantime, a great source to find a good summer read is right there at the Library Branch disguised as a construction trailer. If you are there in the afternoon, be sure to give the duty volunteer a smile and a thank-you. They are spending their afternoons making it possible for our library to stay open.

Did you know there are computers you can sign up to use at the library? Just ask about it. It's free!
