Fun 'N Sun Winners - Florida State Horseshoe Championship

The 48th Florida State Horseshoe Championship was held from April 23rd to April 26th at the Clearwater Horseshoe Club. There were 147 pitchers competing in singles and doubles championship games. An average of 85 pitchers a day, with over 1023 games were pitched in the course of four days. The winners were:

Men's Division - Jessie Wayne Goforth, of Bradenton pitched a 54.33% ringer avg. to win the men's division.

Men's Elder's Division - Warren Woosley, of Clearwater, defeated Ray Hood, of Pinellas Park, by pitching a 65.71% avg.

Women's Division - Verdell Wollard, of Apollo Beach, defeated Sue Burrows, of Palm Bay, by pitching a 68.57% avg.

Junior's Division - Leland Reynolds, of Archer, was the winner of the Junior's Division pitching a 20.50%.

Ray Hood, of Pinellas Park, pitched the highest Ranger Average. 94%, throwing 47 ringers out of 50 shoes pitched.
