Largo Central Elementary School vice principal Mrs. Widdy, standing at left, and art teacher Brenda Zega are pictured with (seated l-r) Ashley Blanchard, winner of the Joseph L. Carwise Minority Award for Excellence in Scholarship, and Hannah Baldyga, whose artwork won first prize for grades 2-3 in the countywide 2008 Drinking Water Week Contest sponsored by Pinellas County Utilities. Hannah's award-winning entry will be featured on a T-shirt. Ashley received her award along with winners from other Pinellas County schools during a special ceremony at the Harborview Center in downtown Clearwater on April 19.
Omar Wright, winner of the Joseph L. Carwise Minority Award for Excellence in Scholarship from North Ward Elementary School in Clearwater, is pictured with his third grade teacher, Mrs. April McKinley, at school the week following presentation of his award. Omar, who is holding the trophy he received, was honored at the Harborview Center on April 19 along with winners from other PInellas County schools.
