Citizen Advisory Committee to Discuss Housing

CLEARWATER – The City of Clearwater’s Planning Department will hold a Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting Wednesday, May 28, at 1 p.m., in the Municipal Services Building, 100 S. Myrtle Ave., Room #130. This meeting is part of the process to update the city’s Comprehensive Plan, which sets future land use plan policies in the city pursuant to Florida State Statutes.

Every seven years, the Comprehensive Plan must be re-evaluated and amended as required by the State of Florida. The CAC has been appointed by the City Council to provide valuable public participation and recommendations on proposed changes for drafts of the documents. CAC meetings are open forum, and the general public may attend to gather information pertaining to the amendments of the city’s Comprehensive Plan.

The focus of this current CAC meeting will be housing. The primary purpose of the Housing Element of the Comprehensive Plan is to develop appropriate plans and polices to meet identified or projected deficits in the supply of housing for different economic sectors and needs in the community.

Other CAC meetings will take place in June:

  • June 11, 2008 – 1 p.m., City Hall, 112 S. Osceola Ave., Room #222
